826DC is the local chapter of 826 National, a 100% volunteer-run organization designed ‘to assist students ages six to eighteen with their writing skills, and to help teachers get their classes excited about writing. Our work is based on the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.’

First Friday Openings are a collaborative effort to strengthen arts and culture in the beautiful, multi-cultural neighborhood that is Dupont Circle. On the First Friday of every month galleries in our community open their doors to multitudes of art enthusiasts from all walks of life for simultaneous openings. We encourage all to join us for our openings and to circulate between our neighboring galleries, which host an ever-changing array of styles and media.

Help create a Hub DC – @HubDC
Hub DC will serve as a co-working space and social business incubator, as well as a platform to bridge divides – in generations, income levels and sectors. Hub World was founded in 2002, and there are currently 18 Hubs in cities around the world. Each Hub has its own distinct flavor, but all are united by the drive to build a robust global community of people poised to tackle social challenges.

ProgressDC is a locally-focused group that seeks out opportunities for progressive social change in DC. The organizers of Progress DC host monthly On DC happy hours that try to bring together a bunch of folks who work not just in DC but *On* DC, in non-profits or government or lots of other points in between.

Puppet Underground is a new puppeteer’s collective in DC whose members are committed to working for social justice and long-term sustainable change.
